London Borough of Redbridge Council | Remote Working

London Borough of Redbridge is the local authority for Redbridge in Greater London, England, and one of the capital’s 32 borough councils. They employ over 1600 people and aspire to place Redbridge at the cutting edge of local government in the 21st century.

Here’s how we supported London Borough of Redbridge Council with replacing their Direct Access environment.

The problem

As a direct result of Covid-19, the Council urgently needed to strengthen their existing remote access infrastructure, improve reliability, make it more robust and ultimately improve user experience with faster secure access to resources.

Given the business-critical nature of this engagement, PowerON provided introductory calls, scoped the business and technical requirements, established commercial and partnership agreements and had a consultant onsite within 8 days of our first call with their team.

The solution

We worked with London Borough of Redbridge Council to set up a flexible support contract that enabled instant support from our expert team of consultants. Time was spent reviewing the current IT estate, and isolating the factors that were restricting reliability and performance for the higher number of remote workers during these unprecedent circumstances. Due to the urgent nature of this new remote working demand, over a Bank Holiday weekend, the PowerON and Council’s teams worked together to successfully deploy a new robust Direct Access solution.

As a result of the rapid response from London Borough of Redbridge Council, they were able to significantly and securely improve the remote access solution, which not only increased productivity, but empowered all council employees to continue to support their community from home with little impact to their day to day activities, while not compromising the council information security posture.
