Customer Need
The London Borough of Newham is a London borough formed from the former Essex county boroughs of West Ham and East Ham, within East London. Newham was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium.
The Challenge
The London Borough of Newham were looking to migrate away from the outdated Hyper-V hosts that underpin their current system and replace with newer Hyper-V hosts that are managed with System Center Virtual Machine Manager. The new hardware for the hosts were procured by The London Borough of Newham, however Newham required assisstance with moving the guest virtual machines across from the old host to the new host.
Solution
The proposed approach utilises the clients existing System Centre Virtual Machine Manager and Hyper-V Virtualisation infrastructure. The major objective of this Solution is to create an enterprise migration plan that can be used to allow OneSource to migrate all their VMs to a new Nutanix platform.
The phases of Work that PowerON delivered as part of the engagement were as follows:
- Produce a migration approach based on what we know about the current OneSource legacy and Nutanix Virtualisation Infrastructure.
- Provide timing estimates for how long the migration process should take.
- Update the current SCVMM implementation to Update Rollup 11 at a minimum.
