Desktop Modernisation
Customer Need
Hargreaves Lansdown plc is a financial service company based in Bristol that sells funds and shares and related products via its website and through the post to retail investors in the United Kingdom.
The Challenge
Hargreaves Lansdown was using Microsoft VDI with a Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Session (RDS) environment, which provided a multi-user shared desktop experience. Whilst this already provided benefits, Hargreaves Lansdown were keen to see where further expansion and utilisation could provide further benefits, including looking at a potential personal desktop experience for “Power Users”.
Solution
PowerON ran a workshop style “Chalk and Talk” session to analyse their current state, usage patterns, desires and future plans. This workshop provided a chance to discuss and explore Windows Server 2016 and the enhancements to Microsoft VDI that are upcoming. Alongside the workshop, analysis of a group of devices to profile resource utilisation was also performed to gather metrics for the recommendations.
Benefits
The report produced as an output of this engagement will then highlight the recommended approach and define further pilot engagement efforts.
